Teales' titmouses

Trail Wood #74 Earl Plato

3 shots - Firefly meadow, the Teale pond, and a little Tufted titmouse.
“ At the top of Firefly Meadow, see crows going over the wet fields. We see mallards trailing their V’s across the still water. We see the liquid mirror of the pond reflecting the clouds of red that have enveloped he swamp maples with the opening of their flower buds. As we descend the slope we hear the wild laughter of a home coming flicker. We hear the bright little call of a goldfinch overhead. The males of these finches are already in full breeding plumage although a quarter of a year will go by before Nellie and I pause on our way to the pond. We their mating and nesting time arrives, But the loudest sound e hear comes from one of our smallest birds. It fills all the hours of these days of lengthened light, the ringing “hear-hear-hear” of the tufted titmouse.”
Note: My tufted titmouses have a Canadian twang; “Peter-peter-peter.”
