I showed this to Al Oleksuik this past winter. The giant vines seemed to be holding the trees together and enveloping them at the same time.
Years ago I cut one about 6 inches from the ground. It pumped water onto the ground for nearly a week before forming a mucus that scabbed over the stump. It actually formed a small stalactite.
I am a long time writer of nature and local history for area newspapers. This is my attempt to share some of my love of Fort Erie and the Niagara Peninsula and its history.
