Farewell Tree sparrows except one laggard

Trail Wood #73 Earl Plato

At the end of the second week in April’s log Edwin Way Teale wrote the following: “ In the night the wind blew strongly from the north. This morning most of the tree sparrows - those of our companions of ours in the time of winter drifts - have begun their long flight north. Only two or three laggards remain home for a few days more. When they are gone the rest of the spring and all of summer and part of fall will pass before we hear again the sweet tinkling chorus of their sunset song.”
Note: I just played my Peterson CD and the tree sparrows song. Thanks Edwin for the reminder of spring days.
