A Badge of Recognition!

Trail Wood- #38 Earl Plato
A badge of Recognition- “A singular demonstration of this fact occurred one winter at the home of friends some miles to the west. Periodically a fish dealer stopped with his refrigerated truck in their yard. As soon as he climbed out and opened the back and got out his scales he was besieged by chickadees. They fluttered around him. They alighted on his head and shoulders/ They appeared to welcome him to the barnyard.”
Writer’s note: Have you figured it out?
“For a while this odd behaviour remained a mystery. Then the simple explanation was perceived. His hat and coat worn by our friend when he put out his sunflowers on a winter morning were of the same colour and design = bright red. In the minds of the little birds these were the field marks of their benefactor.”
